The blue ground of this huipile was dyed with indigo. The red threads are rayon contrasting in texture with the other colors. Condition is very good, There are 1 1/4” pleats on all sides, adding 5” to the width of the garment if they are taken out. Like many other Nahuala huipiles, the bottom is gathered by the tension used when weaving the patterned areas. This huipile was probably for an older teen who was still growing. 25 1/2” W X 24 3/4” L.
