Our traditional Mexican jewelry is crafted by two Oaxacan families who are known for their outstanding craftsmenship, the Salgados and Hernandezes. Almost all of the earrings are made directly from silver wire and silver sheet, hammering and working the metal. Such metal-smithing is a laborious and time-consuming process and requires a very high level of skill. Only a few pieces are cast. All are spectacular, extremely feminine, and light as a feather. They are also reminiscent of Frida Kahlo. A rare and disappearing art practiced by a very small number of highly talented and trained craftspersons, these are certain to become heirlooms.
