M19-05 Tigre helmet mask; Guerrero, Mexico

$135.00

This hand-carved and painted mask from Guerrero is probably about 20 years old and is in good condition, with only slight chips on the end of one ear. It is for the Danza de los Tigres, or Dance of the Tigers. Strangely, the tigre masks are always spotted like the native jaguar, but called tigres and not jaguars nonetheless. This one is a helmet mask. It is worn on top of the head and the wearer looks out of the mouth. 9 1/4”L X 8 1/2”W X 6 1/2”D. All prices include shipping within the U.S.
