Oscar Hernandez Miranda

Oscar Hernandez Miranda studied with the famous Mexican folk artist Saulo Moreno for some time and then began to create stunning animals in alambre. In this painstaking technique, an armature is first built by soldering together hundreds of pieces of steel wire. Next, areas of the wire are filled in with solder and finally, the whole piece is carefully painted inside and out with enamel. Oscar is one of the very few Mexican folk artists besides Saulo to work in this technique and we are proud to be one of the few galleries to have his work. His specialty is roosters, like the one at the left. He also creates rabbits, grasshoppers, horses and unicorns, frogs, a variety of wonderful skeletons, and other creatures.
